Public Policy

Public Policy aims at identifying and analyzing the essential features of policy, including the nature, causes, and consequences of existing policies and determining when new legislation is needed. We use theories, concepts and practice to critically analyze and examine the following policy arenas:Public Service Commission

  • Public service companies comply with established regulations for the best interest of the public
  • Standards and policies protect the safety of the public
  • Innovation encourages the efficient delivery of public utility services
  • Socio-economic and environmental impact reviews of energy projects are conducted
  • Capital structure, cost of capital, allocation of capital, depression and risk of return, and financial performance are investigated to protect customers

  • Investors and market participants (e.g., utility, supplier, consumers…)
  • The Federal Regulatory Energy Commission
  • Independent System Operators (ISOs)/Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs)
  • Public advocate agencies
Power Industry
  • We provide expert guidance for entry, expansion (e.g., mergers and acquisitions), diversification and/ or exiting a market
  • We investigate market activity including mid-and long-term price and demand outlooks, capacity markets, policies and rules, and competitive positions of firms to determine potential issues and their implications for clients.

Our ongoing, independent market analyses are disseminated through briefs we periodically submit to policymakers.
